- Pretty much the same happened to me when I replaced my Best 14.4 external
- with the USR 33.6 external. Here's my really hokey solution:
-
- My modem is shared (switch) by 3 computers. If I switch the modem to MY
- computer and then start win95 and procomm 3 for windows, I get the "not
- responding" message. If I try to run my dos-based comm programs from
- within win95, nothing happens. If I exit windows and run the dos comm
- programs, everything works fine. BUT if I switch the modem to another
- machine, start windows/procomm and THEN switch the modem over, everything
- works fine. Sounds really stupid, huh?
-
- When I switched modems I also had to do a lot of tinkering with my DUN
- connections -- used only when I want to use Netscape with cslip
- (emulation). Is there any reason that changing modems should change IP
- addresses -- especially since I just had to put stuff back the way it
- was?
-
- I wish I felt that Windows 95 were reliable, but it just isn't!
